Going Out With a BANG!

Well we had the best weekend ever! Friday we went to Maine with our friends The Bohns, Coils, Fishes and Stringums. We went to York Beach and the girls had a ball. It was the first time the girls had ever been to the Ocean. It was the first time I had ever been to a beach without jeans and a sweatshirt. The water was like Lake water and it was gorgeous out. Kya would not get out of the water. Mia took one header in the water and spent the rest of her time digging on the beach. It was hard to tell who had more fun the kids or the Dads. The guys were so much fun to watch running around playing football, jumping through the waves, and taking out the kayak. We didn't get home until 8:45pm. Saturday we thought we would finish our last weekend before school by going to the Drive-In. The Perfect date for people with kids. We moved our bench seat up to the front and made a bed for the kiddos in the back with our dvd player. They watched movies and crashed while Todd and I enjoyed Bourne Ultimatium and Chuck & Larry. We'll be doing this more often! We had so much fun at the beach I couldn't choose from my pictures so enjoy the slideshow!

Better Late than Never!

Okay so I'm a little late blogging this week, but I hate playing the catch up game so I'll try to just do a quick update. I am now playing volleyball every Tuesday night year round, very exciting. All of our friends have come back home either last week or this week so we can't wait to get things rolling again with "the wives club" (also known as "single moms" or wives of law students with kids). As far as the family goes we all just got colds yesterday and mine is kicking my butt, of course I have to be sick when it's my last weekend to go anywhere with Todd, before I lose him forever to the library. We're supposed to go to the beach tomorrow in Maine with some friends so hopefully my drugs will do the trick and we can all have a good time. Oh and potty training dogs sucks.

Baby Fat Boot Camp

So I've decided the time is now to start working out again. I've started going to a Balls, Weights, and Bands class twice a week and I'm hopefully going to start playing Volleyball on Tuesdays. They're wrapping up summer league but if they like what they see on Tuesday I'll get to jump in. Otherwise they start up again in Oct. I'm kind of nervous since it's been a good 4 yrs since I've played but I am so excited to pick it back up. And Saturday mornings are my cardio days. I wish I could go more than 3x a week but Boston can't go to the daycare until Oct 29th and yes I'm keeping track. The YMCA has been so huge for me mentally. The last 3 mos of my pregnancy I was going everyday but Sundays and sometimes 2x a day. It became my second home and my only break from kids. I can't wait to do mornings again in Oct. so I can catch up with all my old lady workout buddies. I've got quite a bit on my plate right now but I'm hoping I can keep it all going and find a little time to escape to the gym. Wish me luck as I try to put myself through Baby Fat Boot Camp! Here's the little guy that so graciously helped add to the baby fat.

Welcome Home Tarzan, Welcome Home!

Well it's been an exciting weekend. We had decided we were going to breed our mini dachshund that Kya has recently name Sassy, but the plan was to use a stud service. However with the shortage of dachshunds in the area that just wasn't going to work so we found a stud in Missouri. Kya named him Tarzan. Tarzan flew into Boston on Friday and is the cutest thing ever! He's a day younger than Boston. We still don't have Sassy until the end of the month, but we do have OUR VAN BACK YEAH!!! Today we took Tarzan and headed up north back to Barton VT. I am so glad to have my van back... even if it does smell like vomit because some water got in the seat tracks and the girls left some grapes and other treats in the back seat. We took our time going up and back to VT, upper NH is so beautiful! We stopped at some great places, like Boise Rock where some guy traveling survived through a storm by killing his horse and sleeping in the hide which froze shut and a few days later people found him and cut him out with axes. We also had a picnic at Mount Lafayette . The view was so pretty and we were grateful the darkening gray clouds above didn't let loose while we were there. Todd went back to his Oregon roots and went hiking through the woods down to the water to get some pics. I stayed with the kids since there was no trail and too many little ones to hold, plus straight down hikes in flip-flops was never my forte. We would have loved to stop at some other places but we reaped the consequences of having a dog, and pulled numerous U-turns through state park entrances when we saw the sign "No Pets". Despite the dog haters I am so grateful for our opportunity to live in this beautiful state. I Love it here! I can't wait to see where we end up after school... but I have to say I wouldn't mind staying.

Cute Kiddy Craft

This is my girls' favorite craft. They made these at Family Center and we just had to make them again ( the other ones were played with a little too well). It's cute, easy, and the girls love running with them like they're kites.

Jellyfish

Need-

Construction Paper
Tacky Glue (something else would probably work)
Masking Tape
Scissors
Crate Paper
Confetti
Eyes
Ziplock Snack Bags
Hair Gel
Markers

Instructions-

First fold Construction Paper in half and cut a whole in the open side of the paper a little smaller than the snack bag. Unfold and keep paper open until the end. Fill the bag with hair gel and put some confetti in it. Seal it up put it over the whole and tape around the top and sides. Cut the crate paper for tentacles, squeeze the top ends together and tape on each side of the whole. Add glue all around the edges of the construction paper and fold close. Glue on the eyes, color it up, and add anything else you want. It's really fun to squish the mouth around and see all the different things inside.

I just realized I forgot to round the corners on the tops of the jellyfish so they kind of look funny. Also the school has bingo markers that the girls colored their first ones with, those are great especially for the younger kids.

My Husband the Garage Sale King!

Ok so last summer I sent Todd to a garage sale I had just driven by that had a cute play kitchen. Todd came back with 2 kitchens and the biggest garbage bag I've ever seen full of clothes the next size up for both girls for $20. Well this year he's topped himself once again I sent Todd to a garage sale that had a ton of little tike stuff. He came home with a playhouse, a rocking fish, a car, a tool bench that has sound effects, 6 kids movies, a DVD rack, and a giant sized wicker laundry basket, all for you guessed it $20. I'll never go to a garage sale again... without my husband.
Of Course we had to try them out to make sure they were safe

Photos By Todd

Here's some pictures Todd took of this cool looking church down the street

This Week

This week was Juju's Birthday, the girls were so cute Kya wanted to make a cake for Juju's Birthday even though she lives far far away. We've decided that's a great idea and from now on all birthdays will be celebrated by the Pratts eating a cake in your honor! We also had our friends the Coils over for dinner. They had just returned from Chicago and the girls were very excited to show off their bubble machine to Ellie!

Big News... and NO We're not Prego!

So we got big news this week Kya has been excepted to preschool! The great thing about Concord is the elementary schools here offer free preschool programs. All of course except the one in our district. 2 of the schools will let out of district kids in on a waiting list. After a recommendation from 2 other teachers Kya has been going to family center with we magically got the call that Kya has been approved to attend Rumford Elementary. We celebrated by walking to her new school and playing on the playground. This picture is the sideview of her school and the short little part is her class. We are so excited for Kya... I can't believe I have a kid in preschool!

Sadly Kya fell a little short on this jump
